Abstract

1469428 Valves C U PEDDINGHAUS 20 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 55120/74 Heading F2V In a shock absorber piston of the type having at least one set of openings (3, Fig. 1, not shown) covered by a spring valve washer 4<SP>1</SP> located in a groove in the piston face, the spring valve washer being supported on its side away from the piston by a support plate 4 which is chamfered at each end to permit flexing of the spring valve washer to control flow through the openings, the support plate 4 is provided with grooves 11, 12 (Fig. 3) to afford reduced support surfaces 10 for the spring valve washer. The adhesion forces between the spring valve washer and its support plate are thereby reduced. The piston has on its other face a second spring valve washer 4<SP>1</SP> and support plate 4 disposed perpendicularly to the first to control flow in the opposite direction. The piston body and support plates are provided with channels 8, 9 and recesses 7 to direct flow on to the spring valve washers.
