Abstract

1286414 Drilling machines CESKOSLOVENSKY URANOVY PRUMYSL OBOROVY PODNIK GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 17 Nov 1970 [18 Nov 1969] 54523/70 Heading B3C A drilling machine for use in mines comprises a carriage whose wheels 3 are mounted on arms 2 which can pivot about vertical axes, the carriage including a rigid frame 1 to which the arms 2 are connected, a vertical member 4 rotatable about a vertical axis relative to the frame 1, boring tools 5 for boring parallel bores, and an extensible prop 10 carried by an arrangement of arms 8, 14 which define a parallelogram in plan view. An hydraulic cylinder (18) (Fig. 2, not shown) is arranged between the member 4 and prop 10 for pivoting the prop 10 and its arms 8, 14 through 90 degrees. Another cylinder is arranged between the frame 1 and member 4 for pivoting the former through 90 degrees; and yet another cylinder is arranged to actuate linkages between the arms 2 to pivot the latter horizontally through 90 degrees. The machine runs on tracks and is intended for use in regions of restricted space. For performing a boring operation the carriage is raised off the track by extension of the prop 10 and jacks (29) whereafter the arms 2 can be pivoted to positions perpendicular to the track. The machine can be moved off the track but maintained parallel thereto as follows:- (i) pivoting of prop 10 from position A (Fig. 5) to position B (shown in solid lines); (ii) pivoting of arms 2, as described above, to positions normal to the track; (iii) pivoting of frame 1 relative to member 4; and (iv) pivoting of prop 10. After stage (i) the prop is extended to raise the carriage from the track, the prop then engaging the ceiling and floor (Fig. 4, not shown). Hence, during stage (iv) the member 4, carriage, and boring tools sweep round to the solid line position of Fig. 5.
