Abstract

1492735 Rock drill booms LIFTEC ENG Ltd 27 Nov 1974 [13 Oct 1973] 47927/73 Heading B3C In a drilling machine for boring holes in a rockface, a table 5 carries a drilling head 4 and a workman's cage 10 or platform mounted on a hydraulically operable hinged boom structure 11, 12 carried by the table for positioning the cage or platform relative to the face for access to the drilled holes. As shown, table 5 is vertically adjustable, by hydraulic actuators (not shown) utilizing scissor linkage 6, on a wheeled chassis 1 which carries a further drilling head 3. One or both booms 11, 12 may be telescopically and hydraulically extensible and are pivoted by actuators 13, 14. Boom support 8 may be mounted on a turntable 9. A mechanical linkage (not shown) between cage 10 and support 8 and extending along the booms may be employed to maintain the orientation of the cage constant regardless of position.
