Abstract

1393390 Boring earth &c RUSTONBUCYRUS LTD 17 Aug 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 38570/72 Heading E1F A mobile drilling rig comprises a truck having at its front end an operator's cab 49 and a drill mast 11, the mast being provided with a drive unit 16 and feed assembly 17, and housing at its base a platform 22 rigidly secured thereto and pivotally mounted on the front of the truck. The pivotal mounting of the platform 22 enables the mast to be pivoted between an upright drilling position and a horizontal transport position, this being effected by means of hydraulic rams 30, (27), Figure 2 (not shown). Drill and casing segments are stored in a rack 4 and a hydraulically-operated transfer arm 39, also pivotally attached to the front of the truck, is provided to transfer the segments from the rack to the mast. Machinery for propelling the vehicle and providing hydraulic power is located in a housing 48 behind the operator's cab.
