Abstract

1430355 Rock drill rig GARDNER-DENVER CO 24 June 1974 [26 Dec 1973] 27916/74 Heading B3C A mobile drill rig comprises a frame 14 mounted on an undercarriage 12, a support 66, 78 mounted on the frame for limited movement about a horizontal pivot axis, see. Fig. 2, and an elongated boom 44, 46, 92 mounted on the support for linear movement substantially parallel to the horizontal pivot axis, as shown by means of boom side member 46 sliding in selflubricating bearings 88 mounted in support cradle 66 having removable upper members 78. A. positioner bracket 36, Figs. 1, 2 and 8, is pivotally mounted on the end of the boom and is connected to a mast 24, whereby the mast may be pivoted with respect to the boom. The mast. includes a drill motor 22 for driving a drill stem 26 carrying a drilling tool 28. The arrangement shown has hydraulic rams 86 for tilting the boom support cradle. 66, ram 96, 102 for longitudinally displacing the boom along the support 66,. 78 and ram 58 for pivoting the positioner bracket 36. The mast may be slidably mounted by flanges (32) in slots (34) in the positioner bracket (Fig. 7, not shown) and displaced by ram 38, Fig. 2. The arrangement enables a number of positions to be attained, such as the horizontal stowed position (full lines, Fig. 1) and the upstanding drilling position (phantom lines) whereby drilling beneath the rig is possible.
