Abstract

1352706 Rock drill COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 26 Nov 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 57757/70 Heading B3C A support for a drill 80 for use in underground excavations comprises a movable base 2, an intermediate part 22 pivoted at 20 to the base by rams 32, a further part 46 pivoted to part 22 at 48 by a ram 40, and a frame 54 which carries a drill head 82, the frame being pivoted on part 46 by a ram 64. Base 2 has four wheels 12 which run on a track 14, jacks 10, and a plate 16 which swivels about a pivot 18. Part 46 comprises a turntable 50 on which is mounted frame 54, and the latter is pivoted with the turntable by the ram 64. Drill head 82 is mounted on guide rods 74, 76, and is moved therealong by a ram 84 via a rope and pulley drive 90, 92, 94. In operation, the support is moved to the required position along track 14, and then supported by actuating jacks 10. Plate 16 can be pivoted by rams. Base 2 may be provided with crawler tracks.
