Abstract

1419144 Mineral mining installation GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 30 April 1973 [2 May 1972] 20434/73 Heading E1F A mineral mining installation, of the type in which a winning machine e.g. a plough 12 travels along a guide member 17 on a scraper chain conveyor 15, has means for raising and lowering the plough in the form of a rod 20 which can be moved axially to slide between the guide member and the floor 10. A ramp portion 19 of the guide member is engaged by the head 21 of the rod 20 and movement of the rod is effected by a ram 28 via a lever 25 pivoted to a bracket 27 on the side wall 13 of the conveyor frame. A number of rams 28 are spaced along the installation and are connected to a roof support assembly (not shown); the goaf side of the conveyor is held off the floor by beams 16. The bracket 27 carries two stops 33, 34 to limit the movement of the lever 25 and holes 31, 32 in lever and bracket receive a locking pin when the lever is vertical. In a further embodiment (Figs. 4, 5 not shown) the ramp portion 19 is replaced by a plate centrally pivoted about a horizontal axis parallel to the face and the plate is engaged by the rod on one side of the pivot and engages the plough on the other side.
