Abstract

1286129 Vehicle lamp supports TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 14 Oct 1969 [15 Oct 1968 28 Dec 1968] 50350/69 Heading F4R A lamp assembly comprises a supporting frame 9, a lamp unit 1 adjustably mounted on the frame and consisting of a concave reflector 2, a lens 3 and a light source (not shown) at the focus of the reflector, and means urging the unit into contact with the frame, the unit being in smooth sliding contact with the frame at a plurality of discrete spaced apart regions 17 the number of which remains the same irrespective of the position to which the unit is adjusted. The adjustment is effected by a pair of screws 12 located respectively at the top of the unit and at one end of the horizontal diameter, and the unit is urged into contact with the frame by a spring (16) disposed midway along the 270 degree arc separating the screws. The contact regions are constituted by the curved surfaces 17a of three (or more) projections 17 on the frame, each projection being formed with a groove 17b to eliminate the tendency to moulding distortion. In a first modification (Figures 8 and 9, not shown) the rear surface of the reflector is formed with a plurality of projecting integral arcuate ribs (19) to engage complementary arcuate surfaces (20) on the frame, and in a further modification (Figure 10, not shown) the projections 17 are replaced by resilient grommets (22) having round heads to engage the unit.
