128,585. Schneider et Cie. March 30, 1918, [Convention date]. Field carriages; recoil apparatus.-Relates to endless-track field carriages adapted to pivot around the trail spade for training. According to the invention, the connexion between the trail A and the trucks J, K of the endless track is such that the trucks receive a rectilinear transverse movement while the trail moves in an arc (shown by dotted lines in plan in Fig. 2) about the training-pivot X on the spade platform L. The invention also comprises a universal joint connexion a, a<1>, a<3>, L<2> between the trail and the platform L to allow for differences of level between the endless tracks and the platform. The front end of the trail is trunnioned at D in a pedestal E eccentrically and rotatably mounted in a bearing F in a saddle G. The saddle is rotatable on the under-carriage I by a worm-gear w<1>, g actuated by handles U on a shaft S mounted in the trucks J, K. Sprocket wheels R loose on the shaft S may be clutched to the handles; they then propel the trucks on the endless tracks through the chain and sprocket gear Q, P, O. The endless tracks may be laid out flat, as shown, or used in the ordinary way.
