Abstract
1285594 Boots &c INDUSTRIEWERKE LEMM & CO GmbH 11 Nov 1969 [15 Nov 1968] 55109/69 Heading A3B An article of moulded footwear, e.g. a boot, is made by placing a lining 1 on a last (not shown), placing an intermediate layer 6 of cellular plastics material over the lining except in the region of the dividing line of the mould (not shown) and then injecting or press moulding the outer layer 7 of the boot. The lining may be formed from two blanks 1 which are joined in the region which is free from cellular material by two strips 4, 5 and seams 2, 3. When the material of the outer layer 7 is injected or pressed into the mould it initially flows along the regions which are free from cellular material which act as distribution ducts for the material 7. The material 7 then flows over the cellular layer 6 and compresses it so that when the boot is removed from the last the cellular layers 6 expand inwardly as shown in Fig. 2 to leave channels 15 which act as ventilation ducts in the boot. The insole is formed from a lining 9 (Fig. 1), two layers of cellular material 11 and a cover layer 10. A profiled outsole 13 is injection moulded onto the bottom of the boot.
