Abstract

1284543 Protecting images in thermographic materials using stripping films AGFA-GEVAERT 20 Aug 1969 [3 Sept 1968] 41794/68 Heading G2C Visible images produced in thermographic materials which change their water-permeability on heating by treating the imagewise exposed material with either (i) an aqueous liquid which permeates the water-permeable areas to change the colour of these areas or (ii) an aqueous liquid which removes the water-permeable areas are protected by applying a layer of hydrophilic colloid in a temporary support to the image and stripping off the supports. Gelatine on a cellulose triacetate support is the preferred stripping film; the gelatine layer preferably containing glycerol or a plasticizer to aid stripping. The thermographic image to be protected may be produced by the processes set out in Specifications 1, 139, 891-2; 1, 139, 894-6; 1, 154, 568; 1, 154, 902; 1, 160, 221; 1, 177, 481-2; and 1, 284, 542.
