Abstract
1284519 Spray producers T IKETANI 11 June 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 27533/71 Headings FIR R3A3D2 and R3A3D12C In a sprayer, in which the cyclic ambient heating and cooling of a bi-metallic disc 1 is used to produce intermittent operation, a lid 4 has adjustable apertures to vary the amount of ventilation of chamber 2 and dew, collecting on the exterior of housing 3, is conducted into the neighbourhood of spray nozzle 10 so as to be blown off into the atmosphere. The spray liquid contains a propellant gas and a volatile liquid such as methanol, acetone or ether. The liquid passes up duct 19 from a pressurized container and through a flow-control valve 12, co-operating with seat 16. On warming the disc 1 up to ambient temperature, the valve-member 12 is lowered, to allow the liquid to pass up to nozzle 10 and through duct 11 to synthetic on natural sponge 5, supporting the disc 1. The propellant gas evaporates immediately in chamber 2 and cools the disc 1 to close the valve 12. The rate of evaporation of the volatile liquid is controlled by the amount of ventilation of chamber 2. The greater the ventilation, the longer it takes the disc 1 to be re-heated to ambient temperature to recommence spraying. For manual operation, lid 4 may be depressed so that stem 20 opens valve 12.
