Abstract

1283374 Spring-pressed sealing strips G DE VITIS 25 Nov 1969 [26 Nov 1968 30 Dec 1968 3 March 1969] 57707/69 Heading E1J A sealing strip device for doors and window frames, particularly for the lower edges thereof, comprises two elongate members 2 and 3 of U-shaped cross-section, the lower U-member 3 being slidable within the upper U-member 2 towards and away from the base thereof and carrying a resilient sealing strip 4, the device also comprising spring means urging the U- members apart, and adjustable means for limiting the movement apart of the U-members. As shown in Fig. 2, a torsion spring 11 is trapped between and bears against the bases of the U-members; movement apart is restricted by a screw 5 engaged in the base of the upper U-member 2 and slidably connected by a loop of wire 8 to the base of the lower U- member 3, adjustment being effected by rotation of the screw 5. As shown in Fig. 6, a hollow internally threaded tubular member 14 is slidably engageable in a hole in the base of the upper U-member 2 and is engaged with a screw 15 passing through and secured to the base of the lower U-member 3, and a helical compression spring 16 surrounds the members 14, 15 and bears against the bases of the U- members. The upper U-member 2 may be secured by screws 6 to the door or window frame, or embedded in a groove therein. The sealing strip 4 may be glued to the base of a simple U-member 3, or additional flanges may be provided on the base of the U-member 3, as at 20 and 21, for longitudinal sliding engagement with a correspondingly shaped sealing strip. The end of the device nearer the pivotal axis of the door &c may have stronger springs.
