Abstract

1,244,323. Fixing window frames. SEASON-ALL INDUSTRIES Inc. 8 Aug., 1968 [11 Aug., 1967], No. 55323/70. Divided out of 1,244,322. Heading E1J. A window frame e.g. for a double hung sliding sash window and having parallel jambs of which only one, viz 3 is shown and each of which has sash guide channels 102 separated by a jamb divided strip 90 which has an outwardly open slot 97 with a stabilizer in each divider, said stabilizer having a base 110 with a projecting head 107 extending into the slot 97, and of a fraction of the length of the jamb, and secured intermediate the ends of the jamb for self adjustment to plumb the window frame within a window opening such as the shell 25 when it is desired to replace an old window taken from the shell. The adjustment means comprises coil spring 112 which urges the base 110 outwardly from the divider strip 90 into contact with the shell 25, the tension of the spring being adjustable by a screw 106. The invention is described incorporated in the double hung window described and Claimed in Specification 1,244,322. An alternative to the adjustable spring 112 is a leaf spring (Fig. 3 not shown).
