Abstract

1281900 Apparatus for use in joining and cutting floating hulls MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 12 Sept 1969 [12 Sept 1968 25 Sept 1968 8 Oct 1968] 45213/69 Heading B7S A submersible structure 2 for uniting preassembled sections 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP> of a floating hull 1 comprises a base portion 4 extending horizontally and transversely of the bottom of the hull and side walls 5, 6 extending vertically upward face to face with the side walls of the hull. The structure is adjustable in width according to the width or beam of the hull and watertight seals 21 are provided where it faces the outside plating of the hull. In the embodiment shown side wall 5 is adjustable but adjustability at both ends could be provided. In Figs. 15 to 19 (not shown) both sides are fixed and slidable watertight doors fill the gaps between hull 1 and side wall 5 as the structure is attached to the hull.
