Abstract

1281396 Sliding door assemblies ENDON SHEET METAL Ltd 19 April 1971 [18 Nov 1969] 56279/69 Heading E1J In a sliding door assembly in which the sliding door 1 is mounted in a frame 2 consisting of a housing or casing and a door opening closed by the door in its closing position in the casing, there is provided adjustable spacer means, (15, 16, 17, 18) at the top of the frame for firmly locating the assembly in position. As shown, the spacer means comprises one or more screw threaded rods 15 each engaged in a tapped plate 18 attached to the top girder 3 of the frame, and rotatable by a welded-on nut 16, to bring a horizontal plate 17 carried on the end of the rod 15 into contact with the top of the door aperture in a wall or with the ceiling or a girder mounted thereon. The top and bottom frame members 3 and 7 are preferably formed from H-section girders, the end of the casing adjacent the door being formed by two spaced channel members 6 with a removable metal strengthener 8 between the girders 3 and 7 at each side of the casing. A guide and rack (not shown), is provided fixed to plates 19 secured to girder 3 and a guide 9 in the bottom of the casing. In the closed position the door engages in a recess in the door jamb. A removable or hinged chip board panel 10 is attached to each side of the frame and has a cutout 12 to receive handles attached to the door. A buffer 14 limits the opening movement of the door. The outside door jamb may be pivoted about a horizontal axis to compensate for alignment out of vertical.
