Abstract

1281384 Papermaking FELDMUHLE ANLAGEN-UND PRODUKTIONS GmbH 15 July 1969 [15 July 1968] 35574/69 Heading D2A A papermaking machine has a substantially horizontal trough for supply of pulp to a sheet-forming zone a movable endless wire 2 having an upwardly inclined portion forming one end wall of the trough and constituting the sheet-forming zone, a slot-shaped opening 14 in the floor of the trough for entry of the inclined portion, a sealing chamber 13 located below the opening, a pair of rotatable rollers 5, 6 mounted in the wall of the chamber to form a second slot-shaped opening 15 for entry of the inclined portion, the inclined portion being out of contact with the boundaries of the openings, means for supplying water to the sealing chamber and adjusting the pressure of water therein means for rotating the rollers so that their opposing surfaces move at least in the same direction as the wire, and means for adjustably varying the speed of the rollers. The rollers normally rotate in the direction of the wire, but may be rotated in the opposite direction to provide a purge for the wire. Gap 15 may be adjustable. The sealing water may be filtered white water.
