Abstract
128,109. Acetylene Equipment Co., and Stephenson, A. Oct. 29, 1918. Protective devices, external.-Instead of forming the fibrous protective coverings of gas cylinders and other vessels of a single piece or sleeve, a mat A is provided, the edges of which, when the mat envelopes the cylinder, interlock by means of gaps and projections a, a<1>, the opposing projectors being traversed by suitable securing means. A single securing bar B, Fig. 5, may 'be passed through the projections, or the projections may be each provided with a bolt A, Fig. 3, all of which are thrust forward by pushing in the uppermost or the lowermost bolt of the series. For this purpose a detachable pin may be employed. A rope or strip of flexible metal may be used in place of bolts. Cords a<3>, a<4> draw together the mat around the neck and base of the cylinder. The mat may be reinforced at the base by a strip a<5> of flexible metal or other suitable material.
