Abstract
1280032 Signal delaying amplifiers PRESEARCH Inc 17 July 1969 [31 July 1968] 36123/69 Heading H3T A device for delaying a wide band-width input signal comprises a phase inverter TR1, a resistance element R and a reactance element C connected in series across said phase inverter TR1, said elements being arranged to produce a limited shift that is substantially proportional to the frequency of the input signal and means for varying the magnitude of one of the elements in response to a control signal so as to vary the delay of the input signal. The specification shows that if the phase shift is limited to approximately 12 degrees, the phase shift is proportional to frequency and the delayed signal is a substantial replica of the input signal. Resistance R may be a cadmium sulphide photocell. Alternatively, the delay may be varied by means of a voltage-dependent, heat-dependent or pressure-dependent resistor or capacitor. The transistors may be replaced by vacuum tubes, field effect transistors or transformers.
