Abstract

1279711 Mines; filling pack-holes LOCKWOOD BENNETT Ltd 26 May 1970 [23 May 1969] 26329/69 Heading E1F [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for filling a pack-hole with debris comprises a debris sweeping means attached to one or more chains extending between anchored sprockets and means to prevent movement of debris away from the resulting pack. Sweeping means 14, Fig. 2, is reciprocated by chain 13 extending between sprockets 15 and 17 to sweep debris from hopper 33 to fill pack-hole 4. Sweeping means 14, mounted near the pack-hole roof, consists of a sweeping blade 46. Fig. 6, pivotally mounted on plate 41 attached to chain 13. Blade 46 may be secured to slope downwards in the direction of sweeping movement by removable pin 49 engaging aligned holes in brackets 47, 48. Pivotally connected plates 19, 21, 23, 26 and 28 form a pack retaining shield attached to chocks 30. Hydraulic packs 31, 32, attached to roof supports 8 or 10 and chocks 30, serve to advance the shield and hopper. Hydraulic jacks may also be used to raise the hopper and move sprocket 17 to tension the chain. The hopper may support means for removing a ripping lip, e.g. a cutting head or a drill to bore shot holes. (For Figures see next page)
