Abstract

1279418 Bellows vacuum pumps GENERAL ENG CO (RADCLIFFE) Ltd 1 June 1970 [21 April 1969] 20286/69 Heading FIN A vacuum pump has a pumping chamber 16 defined between a metal bellows 1 and a surrounding co-axial cylinder 11, the bellows 1 being connected at one end to a reciprocable piston 6 which at the end of the suction stroke projects from the end of the cylinder 11 to displace a plate 8 and allow suction gas from a space 17 to enter the pumping chamber. During the pumping stroke the piston is moved back into the cylinder and springs 9 move the plate 8 into sealing contact with the end of the cylinder 11. Gas is forced from the chamber 16 past an outlet valve 14.
