Abstract

1278938 Floating barriers SECURICUM SA 25 Aug 1969 [23 Aug 1968 25 Sept 1968 17 Jan 1969 2 July 1969] 40452/68 45559/68 2856/69 and 23461/69 Heading E1H A flexible boom B to control floating oil has sections M moored by chains or ropes C 1 and anchors C, each section having an envelope N made of netting and containing oil-impermeable buoyant-material F. Ballast e.g. chain, is lodged in a tunnel T carried by a skirt S. Additional envelopes O filled with the material F may be provided. A rope 11 extends through the sections, at the bottom of the envelope or at the centre of the material F. Each section M, Fig. 5, has one open end Ma closable by an internal flap and a drawstring. The sections are connected together by flexible sleeves 24 provided with hooks or toggles 26 which are engaged by tape loops 25a on the sections M. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the sleeves are of openable form with two radial flanges (29) to form a skirt.
