Abstract

1278759 Boots &c M MASSELLA and E COLOMBO 19 April 1971 [23 Feb 1970] 22328/71 Heading A3B A resilient heel support includes a heel supporting plate 1 attached along its front edge 3 to a base plate 2, the base plate 2 being provided with longitudinally extending ribs in the form of corrugations. The heel support is preferably made from a single piece of metal plate, e.g. stainless steel, bent along the front edge 3. The heel supporting plate 1 is provided with ribs on its lower surface formed by pressing grooves 5, 6 into the plate. The transverse rib 5 engages the ribs on the base 2 to increase the resilience between the plates 1, 2. The support is incorporated in a shoe with the base plate 2 located between the inner and outer soles of the shoe, the front edge 3 extending through a slot in the inner sole. The support may be secured in place by nails or adhesive, or by spikes formed by bending small portions 14 of the base adjacent the rear edge 15 downwardly.
