Abstract

1446769 Boots etc M MILOTIC 9 Nov 1973 [21 Aug 1973] 52028/73 Heading A3B A shoe whose appearance can be changed simply by substituting one of its elements consists of three independent components, namely a bottom unit 1 (Fig. 3) including an outer sole 4 and heel 5, an inner shoe assembly 2 (Fig. 1) including a lining 6 and an insole 7 and an interchangeable outer unit 3 (Fig. 2) chosen from a series of such units, the unit 3 consisting of a visible upper portion 16 and a base portion 17, and the bottom unit 1 being detachably secured to the insole 7 of the inner shoe assembly 2. As described the inner shoe assembly 2 consists of lining 6, an insole 7, and a steel plate 8 joined to the lasting margin 9 and insole 7 by adhesive and rivets 10, the plate 8 having cuts which form tongues 14 which are bent downwardly. Parts 11 may cover some areas of the plate 8. The bottom unit 1 has a similar steel plate 13 fixed to its upper surface by rivets 12, the plate 13 being formed with slots 15 located above hollows in the upper surface of the sole and heel unit, thus forming housings for the tongues 14. The interchangeable outer unit 3 consists of an integral upper 16 and base 17, the base 17 being formed with openings 18 for the tongues 14. In use the outer unit 3 is placed over the inner shoe assemly 2 and the two parts 2, 3 are then mounted on the bottom unit 1 by inserting the two heelward tongues 14 in their slots 15, bending the toe and heel of the inner shoe assembly 2 downwardly until the toe tongue 14 can enter its slot 15 and then straightening the inner shoe assembly 2.
