A resilient support for disposition in the heels of shoes consists of a one-piece spring plate of strong resilient material having a forward part 2 adapted to be secured to the forward portion of a shoe heel and a flat bearing portion 3 which is maintained in a raised position by downwardly bent flanges 5, 6. The part 2 may be secured to the shoe by adhesive or by tacks or clamps passing through holes 12 or may be positioned by being inserted below the insole. The part 3 may have a rearward extension 7 which may be bent downwards and may have upwardly bent flanges (not shown) which position the heel of the wearer. Suitable materials for the support are steel or plastics material such as polyphenylene oxide or an acetal.
