1278126 Brackets MASATARO SATO 30 June 1969 33003/69 Heading A4B [Also in Division E2] A scaffold bracket for engagement with a substantially vertical support post 10 includes spaced upper and lower post engagement means, the upper post engagement means providing a first abutment surface adapted in the engaged position of the bracket to bear frictionally against the backside of support post and said lower engagement means having a hinged portion 7 providing a second abutment surface adapted in engaged position of said bracket to bear frictionally against the front surface of said support post, said hinged portion being hingedly attached for hinging movement about an axis that is substantially horizontal in the engaged position of the bracket whereby upon application of a downward torque to a projecting part of the bracket downward sliding movement of the bracket on the support post is prevented by frictional engagement of said abutment surfaces with the support post. In the construction shown the upper engagement means is in the form of a hook and a screw 4 is threaded through the side of the hook for engaging the post when it is desired to fasten the lower means. The lower means 7 extends between a pair of arms of a member 5 connected to the member 1 of the framework and is connected to the arms by a pivot pin 6. The extent to which the means 7 can pivot about the pin 6 is limited by the interengagement of its inner end with the member 5.
