Abstract
1278085 Al-coated steel JAPAN GASOLINE CO Ltd 26 Sept 1969 [26 Sept 1968] 47467/69 Heading C7F Steel is diffusion-coated with Al at 800-950 ‹C. to give a surface layer of thickness 300 Á or less consisting of Al alloy, the Al content of the surface region of the layer being less than 30 wt %; the coated steel resists sulphidation under high temperature and pressure. The steel may contain one or more of C, up to 0.5%, Mo 0.1-1.2%, Cr, up to 10%, or Ni, up to 4.5%, and the coating is by halide pack diffusion, heating in Al halide and hydrogen, or in Al-containing powder, or by hotdipping followed by diffusion heating.
