1276747 Sets INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 4 Sept 1969 [11 Sept 1968 29 May 1969] 43793/69 Heading H4J [Also in Division H1] The cradle switch mechanism of a telephone subset has a rocker 10 on which are mounted cams 9 lying between contact springs 1 to actuate them on movement of the rocker 10. The contact springs 1 are strips whose faces are perpendicular to the face of a printed circuit board 2. The contact springs 1 are mounted on the board 2 which is in turn mounted on, and parallel to, the subset base-plate 3. Terminal and mounting extensions 4 of the contact springs 1 are inserted into corresponding holes in the printed circuit board 2, the ends being soldered to conductors on the underside of the board 2. The springs 1 are also supported in slots 5 in a wall 6. They are formed with bulges 8 which are acted upon by the cams 9. The cams 9 are on a cylinder section wall 15 of the rocker 10. The rocker 10 is axially rotatable in two supports 12 and two limit stops 11, 11a, on an end wall of the rocker 10, abut against one of the supports 12. When the handset is off-hook, as shown, the cams 9 engages some of the bulges 8 to close contacts 7. When the handset is replaced, wings 13 on the rocker end walls are acted upon to rotate the rocker 10, and the cams 9 are moved to engage bulges previously disengaged and to disengage those previously engaged. Sequential switching is achieved by slightly staggering pairs of contact springs 1, as shown, or by staggering the cams 9 or bulges 8. Self-cleaning of the contacts is effected by slight friction.
