Abstract

1275993 Continuous casting SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TYZHELYKH TSVETNYKH METALLOV 17 June 1969 [17 June 1968] 30716/69 Heading B3F Pressure variations in a chamber 1 of inert gas, caused by the reciprocation of a mould 6 at the bottom of the chamber, are compensated for by a vessel 8 of variable volume. Molten metal enters the mould 6 through a spout 4 from a tundish 3. A flange 10 with a seal 11, at the top of the mould, enters the bottom of the chamber 1 which has a gas supply line 9 and a viewing tube 5. There is also a seal 2 (incorporating sand) for co-operation with the tundish 3.
