Abstract
1275859 Winding strands about cores A C COSSOR Ltd 16 Nov 1970 54501/70 Heading B8G Bifilar delay lines are wound about a core 9 fed axially through a tube 10 by means of a pair of guides 8 for wires 3a, 3b respectively, each guide 8 being mounted on a carriage 4 rotatable in a circular orbit eccentric to the core path and angled thereto so that the guide describes a substantially circular, path around the core. The carriages are mounted on half-ring gears 13 meshing successively with driven pinions 14 and guided by rollers 11 to follow a circular path. Tension is applied to the wire 3a, 3b by pressure pads 6. Due to its direction of rotation, and angled path, each guide 8 moves upward as it passes in front of the core 9, and downward as it passes behind it. If the core is fed at the mean speed of upward movement of the guides, the resultant delay line will appear as Fig. 4b from the front, and as Fig. 4a from behind.
