Abstract

An effect yarn is coiled around a triangular former, and the coil advances down the former onto a blade which cuts the yarn to produce short lengths of effect yarn on each side of the former. The short lengths pass down curved guides on each side of the former and a first core yarn is passed over the top of each guide, and a second core yarn is passed upwardly through an aperture in each guide so that the lengths of effect yarn on each side of the former extend transversely of and are trapped between respective pairs of core yarns. The core yarns are then twisted to firmly hold the short lengths of effect yarn.
