Abstract

1275548 Interferometers FERRANTI Ltd 19 April 1971 [30 Jan 1970] 4597/70 Heading G2J [Also in Division H1] An interferometer used in a laser, see Division H1, comprises the parallel facing surfaces 13, 17 of a pair of spaced dispersion prisms 10, 18, the distance between the surfaces being determined by a variable spacer consisting of a hollow cylinder of Piezo-electric material 21, Fig. 5 provided with control electrodes 22, 23. Each facing surface 11, 17 of the prisms is slightly off-normal to the optical axis 12, Fig. 2, while the other surfaces 11, 19 intersected by the optical axis are inclined to the normal by the Brewster Angle α.
