A multipole electric switch comprises a housing, fixed contacts 32, an operating lever 9, rockers 36 carrying movable contacts 38 and shaped to form camways, and cam followers 40 mounted on a carrier 50 slidably connected to lever 9 and spring biased to urge cam followers 40 against the camways In the embodiment described, there are four poles (Fig. 2, not shown) with two fixed contacts 32 and one central terminal per pole. Carrier 50 is in the form of a bar with a central aperture through which passes lever 9, cam followers 40 in the form of dumb-bell shaped rollers being mounted on the bar by pins 62 engaging the centre portion 41 of the dumb-bell shape and additionally spring loaded against the camways by a blade spring on the outside of the bar bearing on pins 62 or on the inside of the bar between the bar and a shoulder on pins 62. Rockers 36 are connected to the central terminal by pivoting on the sides of a U-shaped member 34 connected to the central terminal. The camway shown is stable in three positions but different camway profiles may be provided, Fig. 3 (not shown), allowing for stability in only two positions and allowing for latching in one or three positions. The switch is sealed by a rubber seal 10 (Fig. 2) and a cap 11 (Fig. 2) in the rack 8 and by a seal 22 in the base of the switch.
