Abstract

1,273,815. Impregnated sintered Fe alloys. TOYOTA CHUO KENKYUSHO K. K. June 12, 1969 [June 18, 1968], No. 29763/69. Heading C7D. Sintered Fe alloys containing a non-uniformly dispersed impregnant metal phase such as Cu is formed by pre-sintering a powder mixture of Fe and the impregnant metal below the melting temperature of the impregnant and then sintering for 4-30 minutes above the impregnant melting temperature but below the Fe melting temperature. A mixture of Fe + up to 8% Cu powder is presintered at 900‹ C. and then sintered at 1100‹ - 1500‹ C. for 4-30 minutes. The compact may be repressed between the pre-sintering and final sintering. Ni and C may also be added to the Fe-Cu powder mixture.
