Abstract
1,273,690. Electroacoustical horns. D. FRIGO. 24 June, 1970, No. 30699/70. Heading G5J. An electroacoustical horn comprises a permanent magnet 35, which provides a magnetic field having lines of flux extending radially with respect to a cylindrical coil 16. The coil 16 is series connected to a pair of normally closed contacts 17, 21; the contact 21 being fixed, and the contact 17 being movable. The contact 17 is connected to a conductive resilient arm 18 which is connected to the windings of the coil 16 by means of a rivet 19. The permanent magnet 35 is held inside an inverted cup 34 of ferromagnetic material, which is made fast with a ferromagnetic block 33, a stem 32 and the diaphragm 14. When current flows through the coil, the permanent magnet experiences a downward force, thus moving the block 33 and stem 32 which urges the resilient arm 18 downward and causing the movable contact 17 away from the fixed contact 21. The current thus stops, and due to the resiliency of the diaphragm, the assembly moves back to its initial position and the process repeats. Sound, produced by the diaphragm 14 is passed into a trumpet 13. The position of the fixed contact can be altered by means of a screw (not shown). In an alternative arrangement, the magnet may be connected to the case, and the coil to the diaphragm.
