Abstract

1,273,151. Gas burners. SOUTH EASTERN GAS BOARD. 7 May, 1969 [5 March, 1968], No. 10663/68. Heading F4T. A burner for a gas-burning appliance or installation comprises a non-aerated gas jet 12 and a deflector surface 13 disposed obliquely in the path of a gas stream 14 issuing from the jet, upon which surface the gas stream impinges and is deflected to form after ignition a substantially flat aerated flame 15. As shown, the burner may comprise two jets 12 whose respective gas streams 14 impinge on a common deflector 13, Fig. 1, or there may be two opposed streams 21 produced by a jet 17 and impinging on a U- shaped deflector 20, Fig. 3. In a further embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) a plurality of jets are arranged on the outer top surface of a circular header and their respective gas streams are directed inward towards a deflector shaped like an inverted saucer, against whose cambered faces the streams impinge and are then deflected.
