Abstract

1,273,042. Oxo process. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 17 Sept., 1969 [18 Sept., 1968], No. 45737/69. Heading C2C. Aldehydes and/or alcohols are prepared by reaction of olefinic compounds with CO and H 2 at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a carbonyl complex of a Group VIII metal modified with a 3-phosphapiperidine whose P and N atoms bear substituents . The complex may be prepared in situ by provision of a metal carbonyl or salt and the phosphapiperidine. Examples prepare butyraldehydes and butanols from propylene and C 9 aldehydes and alcohols from octene-1.
