Abstract
1350822 Oxo process BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 5 May 1971 [6 May 1970] 13169/71 Heading C2C Aldehydes and/or alcohols are prepared by reacting olefinic compounds with CO and H 2 at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a carbonyl complex of a Group VIII metal modified by a trisubstituted phosphine containing one or more carboxylic acid groups at least one of which is present in the form of a salt with an organic amine. An example prepares butyraldehydes, butanols, 2-ethylhexanal, 2 - ethylhexenal and 2 - ethylhexanol from propylene. Various other olefines and olefinic ethers and esters are specified as starting materials.
