1,263,623. Aldehydes and alcohols by oxoreaction. BADISCHE ANILIN & SODAFABRIK A.G. 14 May, 1969 [15 May, 1968], No. 24571/69. Heading C2C. Aldehydes and alcohols are produced by the hydroformylation of olefinically unsaturated compounds with CO and H 2 at elevated temperature and superatmospheric pressure in the presence of a carbonyl complex of a metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table modified by a P-substituted phosphamorpholine. Preferably a carbonyl complex of Co or Rh modified with a phosphamorpholine bearing a C 6-20 alkyl substituent on the P atom is used and the ratio of metal:P is 1:1 to 1:4. In the example ocetene-1 is converted to nonanol and nonanal using cobalt carbonyldodecylphosphamorpholine catalyst.
