Abstract
1,272,647. Time switches. SANGAMO WESTON Ltd. 15 Sept., 1970 [17 Sept., 1969], No. 45895/69. Heading H1N. A heavy-current time switch comprises a rigid switch arm 10 having one end pivotally mounted and electrically connected to a first external connection terminal 14, an abutment 18 carried by the arm 10 intermediate its ends, spring means 15 at the other end of the arm 10 biasing the abutment 18 towards rotatable timecontrolled cam means 19, a stationary switch contact 22 carried by a second external connection terminal 23, and a co-operating movable contact 21 actuable by the arm 10. As shown, arm 10 is channel-shaped and cut away to be flexible at 11, the spring 15 is a tension spring, abutment 18 is adjustable by screw 17, and contact 21, carried on a blade spring 20, has a stem 24 passing through arm 10 with an enlarged head 25 such that arm 10 can pull contact 21 away from contact 22, but when the contacts are closed vibration of arm 10 is not transmitted to the contact 21. In a second embodiment (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) the spring is a compression spring (34) and the moving contact is carried directly on arm 10 and is enclosed in a cup-shaped shroud (35). The arm 10 may be pivotally connected to terminal 14 by a hinged joint and a flexible copper braid.
