Abstract

1,089,887. Cam-operated switches. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. Feb. 7, 1966 [March 31, 1965], No. 13637/65. Heading H2B. A rotary switch comprises a casing 1, a contact terminal 10 located in the casing and provided with a tailpiece 17 for attachment to a lead wire, a contact arm 5, 6 mounted in the casing with one end 7, 8 projecting into a slot 9 in the contact terminal 10 so that the arm 5, 6 is pivoted in the slot 9 about the one end 7, 8, the arm 5, 6 having a contact element 5a, 6a for engagement with a fixed contact 3, 3a, 4, 4a, a rotor 12 being rotatably mounted in the casing for pivoting the contact arm 5, 6 relative to the fixed contact and resilient means 13 being provided biasing the arm 5, 6 towards the rotor 12. Resilient means 13 comprises a coil spring enclosed in a flexible housing 14 of insulating material. Pressure in excess of that necessary to close the contacts is absorbed by spring 13.
