Abstract

127,231. Brondby, F. N. May 22, 1918, [Convention date]. Ordnance design.-Relates to devices for varying the range of grenades or the like of the kind having a tail-sleeve fitting over the barrel of the gun. According to the invention, the range for a given elevation is determined by fitting the sleeve 8 to a greater or less extent over the barrel, or over a lengthening piece 2 attached thereto by a screw 4, the barrel or the lengthening-piece being suitably graduated for this purpose. An annular stop 6 is adjusted to the required position along the scale and there secured by a set-screw 7 so that the sleeve 8 of the projectile abuts against it. The setting of the sleeve may be determined by a graduated measuring-rod, which may be secured to the barrel, or loose. The tailsleeve of the projectile shown has wings 10.
