Abstract

1,271,398. Interlocks for boxes. KLIKLOK CORP. 28 July, 1969 [2 Aug., 1968; 21 May, 1969], No. 37791/69. Heading B8P. Interlocks for boxes folded from blanks are formed by folding a slotted flap 35 over a wall panel 32, inserting the flap through a wall panel insertion slot 43, 44 formed from two arms 37, 39 of a three-armed star slot 37-39, and snapping a lock tab 45 outwardly through flap slot 46 to resist flap withdrawal (L.H.S., Fig. 1). The two arms 37, 38 define a flexible tongue 41 which facilitates flap entry. Various slot designs are given. Slots 37-39, 46 may be inclined with respect to the vertical (Fig. 3) and arm 39 may be displaced upwardly and interrupted by a severable bridge (448, Fig. 4). The flap slot may be curved (Figs. 8, 10, 11) or may form a V (Figs. 7, 12, 13) which may be truncated (Figs. 5, 6, 9). Tab 45 may have straight (Figs. 3-12) or curved (Fig. 13) sides and may be directed upwardly (Figs. 6-8, 11- 13), horizontally (Fig. 4), or downwardly (Figs. 3, 5, 9, 10). Slot designs are described which solve specific problems, e.g. flap raisure (Figs. 5-7), lock tab damage (Fig. 9) and flap overtravel (Figs. 11, 12).
