Abstract

1,271,378. Rotary sliding-vane compressors. HICK HARGREAVES & CO. Ltd. and E. TOWNSEND. April 27, 1970 [March 31, 1969], No. 16675/69. Heading F1F. A single or multi-stage rotary sliding-vane compressor is cooled and lubricated by injection through nozzles 14 of water and a rust-inhibiting soluble oil additive (e.g. a cutting fluid). Some of the nozzles 14 are located in the end-plates of the compressor and are positioned to inject coolant/ lubricant into the vane slots when the respective vanes 2 are fully projected. The liquid is separated from the gas being pumped in a separator 16 and is returned to a reservoir 11 from which it is drawn by a pump 13. A cooler 15 is mounted in the reservoir 11.
