Abstract

1,270,102. Mounting sheathed wire heating elements. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15 April, 1969 [12 Feb., 1968], No. 6749/68. Heading H5H. A metal sheathed heating element 1 is secured in an aperture 2a of a casing 2 by means of an inner rimmed plate 10, carrying a threaded stud or bolt 15, the ends 1a of the element passing freely through the plate 10, and an outer plate 6 which can be adjusted by tightening a nut 16 on the stud or bolt 15 to expand a resilient sealing member 11 between the plate into sealing engagement with the edges of aperture 2a, the terminal ends 1a and the stud or bolt 15. The bolt or stud 15 and ends la of the element 1 are initially an interference fit with the sealing member 11. The sealing member 11 has an external radial rim 11a and the element is provided with an earthing clip 17.
