Abstract
1,006,633. Variable resistors. INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. June 23, 1964 [March 28, 1963], No. 12258/63. Heading H1S. [Also in Division H2] A wiper contact comprises a gapped wire ring 10 sprung into notches 15 on a sheet metal arm 12 and secured by welding or soldering. The arm 12 is resilient and urges contact ring 10 against fixed contact 14. The gap 11 may be arranged below the arm 12 to provide a more resilient contact (Fig. 4, not shown). Two or more rings may be provided on the arm 12 (Figs. 5 to 7, not shown). The ring may be generally square or triangular with rounded corners (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown), or comprise part of a cylindrical helix (Fig. 10, not shown).
