1,269,642. Coatings. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 20 June, 1969 [8 July, 1968], No. 32488/68. Addition to 1,075,039. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Wires, rubber, glass and synthetic textile materials are coated with a composition comprising isocyanate reaction products containing thermally labile urethane groups which is obtained by adding (a) an organic di-isocyanate to a mixture of (b) at least one compound containing at least two aliphatically bound hydroxy groups, and (c) a phenol, the mixture containing 1.1 to 1.25 aliphatic hydroxy groups and 2 to 10 phenolic hydroxy groups per molecule of di-isocyanate used. The compound may be blended to form a lacquer with a branched polyester resin, e.g. that obtained by condensation of di- and/or poly-hydric alcohol and a dicarboxylic acid. The lacquer, which may also contain a solvent such, as butyl acetate, 2- ethoxyethyl acetate, methylethyl ketone or methyl isobutyl ketone may be applied to the surface and then cured at 150 to 350‹C.
