Abstract

1295959 Carbamic acid esters ATLAS CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Inc 8 Dec 1970 [8 Dec 1969] 58258/70 Heading C3R [Also in Division D1] A textile treating compound consists of a carbamic acid ester containing a thermally labile carbamate group and a thermally stable carbamate group, the carbamic acid ester comprises the reaction product of: (a) an organic aromatic polyisocyanate, (b) a thermally reversible blocking agent comprising caprolactam, a phenol or mixtures thereof and (c) a polyoxyethylene ether having a molecular weight of at least 6000 and containing at least one aliphatic hydroxyl group and at least 90% by weight of oxyethylene groups present as polyoxyethylene chains containing at least 60 oxyethylene groups. Preferably the polyoxyethylene ethers contain at least two aliphatic hydroxyl groups. A particularly preferred class of polyoxyethylene ethers comprises polyoxyethylene glycols having a molecular weight of at least 6000 and the reaction products of a molar excess of a polyoxyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of at least 3000 with a compound selected from the group consisting of organic diisocyanates, dicarboxylic acids or anhydrides and organic diepoxy compounds having two oxirane groups in which the oxirane oxygen is bonded to adjacent carbon atoms.
