Abstract

1427337 Coated products CASCO AB 31 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 50346/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division F2] A method of applying a curable adhesive composition to a wooden surface comprises spraying on to the wooden surface a liquid formaldehyde resin and a liquid hardener for the resin, the resin and hardener being sprayed separately on to the surface in either order or simultaneously, the resin having a dry content of more than 65% and being sprayed at a temperature of at least 40‹C. The resin may be an aqueous solution or a precondensate of formaldehyde with either phenol, resorcinol or a mixture of these. The molar ratio of formaldehyde to resorcinol or phenol may be from 0.5 to 0.8. The hardener may be an aqueous solution containing an aldehyde such as formaldehyde, and may contain a thickening agent such as starch.
