Abstract

1,269,626. Stackable contaider. G.K.N. SANKEY Ltd., and P. H. ASTBURY. 2 April, 1969 [11 April, 1968], No. 17503/68. Heading B8D. A container for beer has an axially protruding rim 15, 23 at each end, the diameter of one rim 23 being smaller than that of the other 15, so that a smaller rim engages within an adjacent larger rim when forming a stack of containers. A pair of dome-shaped plates 12, 17, one pierced by a bung-hole 20, are seam-welded to a stainlesssteel cylindrical body 10 so as to leave a pair of axially upstanding chimes 14, 19. Seamwelded to the upper chime 19 is a hoop 21; this provides a substantially flat shoulder 24 bounded radially inwardly by an axially upstanding rolled rim 23. On stacking, an adjacent container is supported on. the shoulder 24. The. container body includes rolling rims 25 and 26, and the chime 19 is pierced to allow spilled. liquid to drain away. topping effort: is required the pulley 5A has little effect, but, as shown in Fig. 3, the position of the pulley 5A when only at limited toppings movement is required assists in preventing the jib 2 from foreclosing with mast 1.
